June 2016 £2202 Sea Sanctuary Garden Project funded by Norfolk Coast Partnership

During June 2016 we received news that the school had been successful in its bid for funds from the Norfolk Coast Partnership to support the build and establishment of the Sea Sanctuary Garden.

With the hardwork and determination of parent, child, staff and community volunteers over the following seven months the ‘Sea Sanctuary Garden’ was constructed. In April 2017 we welcomed local gardening celebrity Alan Grey to join us for an afternoon of country dancing and refreshments as he announced the garden open.

The garden offers children a peaceful place to socialise with friends during play times and lunch times. The raised bed areas keep the children who attend gardening club busy growing fruit, vegetables and flowers as well as supporting their learning about sustainability and where their food comes from.

The garden supports children’s development of JONK characteristics of curiosity and collaboration as well as promoting healthy lifestyles.
