What a busy week we have had!
Starfish have been looking at another story this week as part of our ‘Once Upon A Time’ topic. We read ‘The Little Red Hen’, talking about whether the other animals in the story were kind when they refused to help the hen make the bread and linking it back to when we have been baking in Starfish. The children told us they loved helping the adults so together we made biscuits. We weighed the ingredients, mixed them together and then added jam to make them extra sweet. Starfish enjoyed them with their fruit snack on Wednesday.
In maths, we have been looking at repeating patterns, colours and shapes. Throughout the week we have had the multilink cubes on the table and have encouraged the children to make tall towers using only two colours. We then used paints and sponges to make colourful patterns on long strips of paper. The children loved painting their pictures, choosing which shapes and colours they wanted.
For English, we have been talking about rhymes. We have read stories and played games, talking about which words sound the same at the end. As it was World Book Day this week, the children came as their favourite book characters and we visited the library on Friday.
Starfish have been super listeners this week and we are very impressed with all the work they have done!
