Starfish Preschool Weekly Update 06/01/2023

Wow! We have been so impressed with how well the children have come back to Starfish this week!

The children have shown how collaborative, kind and helpful they can be. They have worked and played together, taking turns and sharing the resources. Our older children have been especially helpful, supporting the younger children to settle back into the routine.

It has been quite windy this week but the children grabbed their coats and have been making the most of our outside area. We created a ‘sand tray’ and the children chose which resources they would like in the tray. They chose cars to make tracks, turtles to swim around the rocks and spades and buckets to create sandcastles!

We have also been very lucky this week to receive some new Phonics resources, including all the Monster Phonics Character toys! The children have loved learning about each Monster by listening to the stories and have been keen to use the characters to act out their stories and teach each other the sounds they make. We can’t wait to continue our Phonics learning this term!

In Maths we have begun looking at shapes. In our creative area, the children have been describing what they are making and have begun to name some of the shapes they are using.
