Dolphin Class Weekly Update 15/09/2023

Dolphins have settled back into their learning routine well and have produced lots of marvellous work over the week, showing lots of our JONK characteristics in the process.

Our new Topic this term is the Battle of Britain and this week the children have been introduced to what the Battle of Britain is, the countries involved, the significant people involved and the British fighter of choice, the Spitfire. The children have really enjoyed being creative designing and making their own spitfires.

In English, we have started a new book in line with our topic work. The Book is called “The Little Ship”, where a young child helps save soldiers who are stranded on the beach in Dunkirk. The children have worked really hard all week coming up with some amazing sentences and have produced some fantastic writing in their short writes.

Over in Maths we have been investigating how our known number facts to 10 can support our learning of numbers up to 100 and beyond. On Thursday we were being very curious and discussed how 10 – 6 can help us work out 1,000,000 – 600,000. What a fantastic week!
