This week Dolphins have started their new English unit of journalistic writing. On Monday we were being curious about what journalistic writing is and how the different parts of a newspaper report look. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we were being creative, writing our own sentences and completing a short independent write on an eye-witness account of the Blitz. Then, on Friday we used reflective skills to edit our short writes.
In maths, the children have been working really hard on adding three addends, adding across ten and subtracting across ten. We have been using lots of manipulatives this week and it has really fostered the children’s understanding and linked in with our JONK characteristic of this week of being resourceful.
Elsewhere in Topic, we have moved onto our Art block. In this block we have investigated different shading techniques, such as cross-hatching and stippling. The children then used these skills to produce a piece of artwork on a Battle of Britain pilot and as you can see there are some great pieces of artwork that have been produced.
